We are finishing our cardiopulmonary pathology block! ❤️ We were able to go back to our fixed hearts from gross anatomy and evaluate some of the pathology we found during cadaver dissection. We were also able to appreciate the difference between dissecting fixed and fresh hearts once we got to our surgical pathology lab. Can you identify any pathology in the fixed heart?

We “❤️” our surgical pathology lab! We continued our grossing education on hearts and appreciated the difference between fixed and fresh specimens. Handling a fresh specimen rather than a fixed specimen takes adjustment and practice. Dissecting the heart calls for strategic planning to open it properly and examine each component for accurate diagnosis. The hands-on lab is so beneficial to our learning experience. Being able to hold, examine, and study such a vital organ is life changing! We are so thankful we have this opportunity to educate ourselves and others about our bodies and are making great progress to becoming excellent healthcare professionals! #tulaneten
